OBIT COX, C. GRAHAM
COX, C. Graham, 77, of Tazewell, died Saturday, September 18, 1993, in a
Roanoke hospital. Born in the Gratton area of Tazewell County, he was a son of
the late Charles M. and Jennie Giles Cox. He was a member of the Tazewell
Presbyterian Church where he had served as Deacon and Elder. He was a retired
electrical contractor of Tazewell and was a United States Army Veteran of the
Korean War. He was preceded in death by his wife, Zarilda White Cox; a
brother, James G. Cox; a half brother, Irving H. Garst; a half sister, Gladyce
Garst Thompson. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Clark (Jean) E.
Vandergrift of Roanoke; a sister, Mrs. Frances Cox Bandy of Orlando, Fla.; a
brother, Robert F. (`Bob') Cox of Gratton; two grandsons, Scott Vandergrift of
Dover, Del. and Eddy Vandergrift of Roanoke. Funeral services will be
conducted Monday, September 20 at 11 a.m. at the Tazewell Presbyterian Church
with Dr. James B. Hollenhead officiating. Burial will follow in the Maplewood
Cemetery at Tazewell. Friends may call at the Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home in
Tazewell from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, September 19. The family requests that
memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association or to a
favorite charity.
