OBIT SHELTON, MILLARD DWIGHT

SHELTON, Millard Dwight, 83, of Wytheville, died last night, Friday, September 17, 1993 at the Asbury Center at Birdmont. He was a Supervisor for United Telephone for 41 years. He was a founding member of the West End United Methodist Church, a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows, and was a Lieutenant of the Wytheville Fire Department, and a member for 34 years. He is survived by his wife, Cleo Rider Shelton, of Wytheville; two sons, David R. Shelton, High Point, N.C., M. Dwight Shelton Jr., of Blacksburg, Va.; one sister, Ethel Layne, of Wytheville. Five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held Monday, 2 p.m. at the West End Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Ann Blair. Interment will follow in the West End Cemetery. Mr. Shelton will be placed in the church one hour before service time. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday evening at the Gillman Funeral Chapel. Gillman Funeral Chapel, Wytheville, is in charge of the arrangements.
