With more than 300 people looking on, 17 men and one woman were enshrined
into the America's Cup Hall of Fame at the Herreshoff Marine Museum in
Newport, R.I. The charter members included media mogul Ted Turner, the skipper
of the 1977 championship yacht; Dennis Conner, the only man to both lose and
win the Cup; and Bill Koch, the latest champion.
