BLANKENSHIP WINS AT NORTH WILKESBORO

David Blankenship started from the pole and never looked back, posting an easy victory in the Coca-Cola 300 at North Wilkesboro (N.C.) Speedway.

Dennis Setzer finished second in the 150-lap race for Late Model Stock cars. He was followed by Jeff Agnew of Floyd, Richard Landreth and Robbie Ferguson.

Roanoke's Tink Reedy was seventh and Salem's Dicky Wilson finished ninth.

The top two drivers at New River Valley Speedway were knocked out of the race. Ronnie Thomas of Christiansburg finished 29th after completing 65 laps, and New River track champion Paul Radford of Ferrum was 38th, with 15 laps completed.

Junior Miller won a 100-lap race for open-wheel Modifieds and Rock Harris won a 50-lap Street Stock race.

Charles Stanley of the Eastcoasters team won two events during the weekend at the Carter Mountain Bike Race in Charlottesville.

Stanley finished first in the hill climb and cross-country events in the sport class. Ron Glowczynski, his teammate, was third in the sport class cross-country event.

The Eastcoasters' Ed Dickenson was fifth in the hill climb and third in the cross-country race in the pro-expert class.
