CHEYNET REACHES MILESTONE AT TECH

Jason Entlich, Adam Johnson and Robert Droter scored the goals as the Virginia Tech's men soccer defeated Richmond 3-1 to mark the 150th win of Hokies coach Jerry Cheynet.

Tech goalie Brian Bulger shut out the Spiders until the closing minutes and finished with four saves.

In Charlottesville, Tain Nix scored the game's only goal in the 80th minute as Virginia edged Wake Forest in an Atlantic Coast Conference game.

The Demon Deacons (3-1-1, 0-1-0) lost defender Michael Finlay to a red card with 39 seconds left in the first half, but still held their own. Wake's Eric Brandsma and Steve Schumacher also were ejected with 18 seconds remaining in the game.

Jeff Causey made four saves en route to his second ACC shutout for the Cavaliers (6-0, 2-0).

In Rocky Mount, Ferrum's Steve Reynolds set a school record with 18 saves, but the Panthers couldn't muster any offense in a 2-0 loss to Virginia Wesleyan in men's play.

Michael Brady and Che Clark scored the goals for Virginia Wesleyan (6-0-1). Ferrum's record slipped to 1-4.

Roanoke's women's soccer team lost 1-0 to Stockton State on the final day of the Trenton State adidas Classic in Trenton, N.J. The Maroons (0-4) were outshot 14-2. Cynthia Bettran scored the only goal for Stockton (5-0-1) at the 77:46 mark of the second half. Trenton State defeated Mary Washington 2-0 to earn the tournament title.
