OBIT WHITAKER, FREDERICK HURST

WHITAKER, Frederick Hurst, 82, of 131 8th Street N.W., Pulaski, died Sunday morning, September 19, 1993 in Pulaski Community Hospital. Born September 1, 1911 in Pulaski, he was the son of the late Elizabeth Roberts Whitaker and Samuel Hurst Whitaker. Mr. Whitaker was a very active lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church, where he was a former member of the Administrative Board. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Neighbours Whitaker; one son, Gary Hurst Whitaker and his wife, Roberta T. Whitaker, Lancaster, S.C.; one sister, Sandra Whitaker of Pulaski; two grandchildren, Gary H. Whitaker Jr. and his wife Susan Whitaker, Columbia, S.C. and Amy W. Singleton and her husband, Pete Singleton, Myrtle Beach. S.C. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday from Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Weikel and Rev. Ty Harrison officiating. Entombment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Visiting will be anytime after 1 p.m. Monday and the family will receive friends Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church or the Salvation Army.
