OBIT DELONG, GROVER OTIS
DELONG, Grover Otis, 85, of Route 5, Moneta, passed away Sunday, September
19, 1993, in the Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born August 27, 1908 in
Franklin County, a son of the late James Lowry DeLong and Sally Wright DeLong.
His wife was the late Ruth Hannabass DeLong. He was a retired farmer and a
longtime active member of Epworth United Methodist Church. He is survived by
three daughters and sons-in-law, Irene and Luther Light of Vinton, Helen and
James Ruble and Mary Ann and Thomas Dalton, all of Roanoke; three sons and
daughters-in-law, Rudolph and Jane DeLong of Roanoke, Marvin and Lynne DeLong
of Hardy and Jerry and Shirley DeLong of Moneta; five sisters, Frances
Hannabass, Irma Dillon, both of Moneta, Edna Morgan, Ruby Powers, both of
Vinton and Grace Vest of Roanoke; three sisters-in-law, Elva DeLong of Rocky
Mount, Ruby DeLong of Vinton and Myrtle DeLong of Moneta; 15 grandchildren;
six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, September
21, 1993, at 3 p.m. from the Epworth United Methodist Church with the Rev.
Scott McLain officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The
family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Updike Funeral Home,
Bedford, and requests that those wishing to make memorials should consider the
Epworth United Methodist Church, Route 5, Moneta. Arrangements are being
handled by Updike Funeral Home, Bedford.
