OBIT COLE, NELLIE JANE OAKES

COLE, Nellie Jane Oakes, 83, of Danville, died Sunday, September 19, 1993 in the Roman Eagle Memorial Home. She was born October 8, 1909 in Pittsylvania County to the late Walter W. Oakes and Sallie Pat Orrell Oakes. She lived all of her life in Danville. She was a member of Grace Design United Methodist Church, where she was a choir member and was active in the U. M. W. She was preceded in death by her husband Lester Elwood Cole. Survivors include two daughters, Nancy C. Robertson, Salem, Barbara C. Payne, West Point, Ga.; sister, Frances Oakes Johnson, Blairs, Va.; four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 21, 1993 at Grace Design United Methodist Church with Rev. William C. Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends Monday, September 21, 1993 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel.
