OBIT KRANTZ, JOHN CLIFTON JR.

KRANTZ, John Clifton Jr., 72, of Bedford, passed away Monday, September 20, 1993, in the Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was born January 27, 1921 in Bedford County, a son of the late John Clifton Krantz Sr. and Bessie Anson Krantz. He was retired director of the City of Bedford Electric Department, was a member of the Thaxton Baptist Church, a member of the Bedford Lifesaving Crew with 18 years service, a member of the Liberty Masonic Lodge #95, and a member of the Bedford Moose Lodge #1897. He is survived by his wife, Cordie K. Krantz; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce K. and Lawrence Horne, Hartland, Wis., Saundra K. and Gary Smith, Pittsburgh, Pa.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Clifton R. (Buck) and Minerva Krantz, Robert (Andy) and Ginger Krantz, both of Bedford; four grandsons and wife, Jason L. and Sandra H. Horne, Arlington, Edward (Ted) Horne, Harrisonburg, Adam L. Krantz, Nathan A. Krantz, both of Bedford; four granddaughters, Athena R. Krantz, Bedford, Amanda H. Smith, Meaghan E. Smith, Jessica L. Smith, all of Pittsburgh, Pa.; six sisters, Ruth K. Fisher, Mildred K. Saunders, Margaret K. Parks and Jean K. Johnson, all of Bedford, Mary K. Sykes, Indiana, Bettie K. Hooper, Lynchburg. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, September 22, 1993, at 2 p.m. from the Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford, by Dr. Michael DuVal and Dr. Lawrence R. Hunt. Interment with Masonic Rites by Liberty Masonic Lodge #95 will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Updike Funeral Home, Bedford, and request that those wishing to make memorials consider the Bedford Lifesaving Crew or the American Cancer Society.
