OBIT TROTT, SAMUEL STEVEN

TROTT, Samuel Steven, 76, of Rt. 4, Martinsville, died Saturday, September 18, 1993, at the Martinsville Convalescent Center. He was born September 1, 1917, in McDaniel, Md. He was the son of the late Robert Trott and Henrietta Wrideout Trott. He joined the Henry County School Board System in 1939 as a teacher, coach and later administrator. He dedicated his life to helping students obtain finance aid for college, helping over 2000 students. He was a community leader, a boy scout executive, president of the Carver Ruritan Club, vice chairman of the Henry County PSA, board member of Anchor Commission, board member of the Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County, an active member at the Mount Zion AME Church and served on the Trustee Board and on the Steward Board of the Church. He is survived by his wife, Lula Belle Trott of the home; one stepson, Mason Preston of Martinsville; four stepdaughters, Martha Perry of New Rochelle, N.Y., Ellen Preston Mitchell of New Rochelle, N.Y., Lessie Moody of Portsmouth, Va., Gloria Stewart of Baltimore, Md.; two brothers, Robert Trott, Hartley, Del., Wilson Trott, McDaniel, Md.; three sisters, Henrietta E. Baston of Rosedale, Md., Elizabeth F. Whiting of Washington, D.C., Viola A. Rookard of Harlock, Md.; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild. Funeral will be held Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Carver Middle School, with burial to follow at Carver Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Carver Middle School. Arrangements by Stanfield-Miller Funeral Home, Martinsville.
