N&W art exhibit

``Arts and Crafts of the N&W'' has opened at the Roanoke Valley History Museum. It will remain on view through Nov. 24 in downtown Roanoke.

The exhibit shows items made in the Norfolk & Western shops for nonrailroad use 30-60 years ago.

\ Dancers at Hollins

Doug Varone and Dancers, a contemporary dance group formed in 1986 by choreographer/dancer Doug Varone, will appear at Hollins College on Saturday Sept. 25 at 8:15 p.m.

The modern dance troupe has toured the U.S., Canada, South America and Asia, and has been praised by dance critics in many cities.

Doug Varone and Dancers will perform in Hollins Theatre. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for senior citizens and students. For more information or reservations, call 362-6596.

\ Lecture by author

Pulitzer Prize winning author David McCullough will present a lecture titled ``Truman and Leadership'' at Hollins College on Oct. 6 at 8:15 p.m.

McCullough's biography of the 33rd U.S. president, ``Truman,'' was on the New York Times Bestseller List for 43 weeks before earning McCullough the Pulitzer for biography.

McCullough will speak in duPont Chapel. For information, call 362-6451.
