460 IMPROVEMENTS ARE ON FAST TRACK

Improvements to U.S. 460 in Blacksburg and Montgomery County are among $108 million worth of highway work throughout the Commonwealth that has been put on a fast track by Gov. L. Douglas Wilder.

Improvements to the eastbound lanes of the U.S. 460 bypass will complement work done on the westbound side of the highway last year. Virginia Department of Transportation engineer Allen Williams said the project is not expected to start until early next spring. The project, costing $1.3 million, will upgrade pavement and drainage on the bypass between Toms Creek Road and the intersection with U.S. Business 460.
