FUGITIVE ENDS CHASE BY PULLING INTO JAIL LOT

A former Pulaski County man wanted for murder in Kentucky apparently had enough of a chase Wednesday afternoon when he pulled his car into the parking lot at the Wythe County jail.

David Tobias May, 30, was being held inside the jail Wednesday night on a fugitive warrant from Kentucky on charges of murder and armed robbery, a spokesman for the Wythe County Sheriff's Department said.

He also is a suspect in a break-in in Bland County.

Authorities, informed earlier in the day that May was in the area, were watching for him. A car he was said to have been driving without authorization was spotted in the Fort Chiswell area, and deputies stopped it.

The driver pulled away, and law enforcement officers chased him for about 10 miles along Interstate 77, across the median of the highway, into the town of Wytheville and finally to the jail.
