He was identified as Clifton Ward Pauley, an employee at Birdmont Health Care Center in Wytheville.
He was in the ocean Saturday afternoon with his brother, Kevin Lee Pauley, near a campground north of Myrtle Beach when a wave knocked them both down.
Bystanders pulled Kevin Pauley to safety but were unable to reach Clifton Pauley.
Divers found his body about 45 minutes later.
