W.VA. JUDGE DISMISSES SUIT IN REPORTER'S DEATH

A Berkeley County judge has dismissed a $2 million lawsuit filed by the family of a Virginia journalist who was found dead in August 1990 with his wrists slashed.

The family of Danny Casolaro filed the lawsuit against the city, the county and a funeral home.

In the lawsuit filed last year, Casolaro's family contended Martinsburg officials were negligent for not immediately notifying the family of his death after he was found in a Martinsburg hotel.

Circuit Judge David Sanders dismissed the lawsuit.

At the time of his death, Casolaro was working on a book about allegations by INSLAW Inc., a Washington, D.C., software company, that the U.S. Justice Department illegally sold its software to foreign intelligence agencies.
