Nolley's basket at the end of the third quarter gave her 16 points for the night and 1,001 in her career. The senior point guard sat out the fourth quarter as Floyd County (7-1 overall, 5-0 in the district) played its bench.
Melissa Cantrell added 15 points, including the Buffaloes' only three 3-pointers, and Monica Lucas had 10 points, five steals and four assists. Fourteen of the 15 Floyd players scored in the first half; the 15th was injured early in the game. The Buffaloes sank 25 of 54 field-goal attempts in the first half and 21 of 33 in the second.
Grayson County, which trailed 33-9 after the opening quarter, had no player reach double figures. \

GALAX - The Maroon Tide was successful in pounding the ball inside to Tammy Cox, who finished with a game-high 15, and the team went on to a Mountain Empire District victory.
Jaclyn Dickens scored 14 points to go with five assists and 10 rebounds for the Maroon Tide (3-2, 3-2). Cox added eight rebounds. Bland (0-5, 0-5) scored nine points in the last three quarters. \

RIDGEWAY - Kathleen Speakman scored nine of her 18 points in the fourth quarter to spark Magna Vista as the Warriors downed the visiting Cavaliers in a Piedmont District game.
Magna Vista (7-1, 4-1) led 27-22 at halftime and was up by 12 in the third quarter, but Juanita Crews hit two of her three 3-pointers and Jion Ward added another to cut the lead to four. Tonya Zehr scored six of her 15 points and Angie Morton chipped in four of her 13 in the fourth quarter as the Warriors outscored Chatham (4-4, 2-3) 26-14 for the win.
Crews scored 17 points and Ward added 16 to pace the Cavaliers. \

MONTEREY - Chrissy Robertson scored seven of her 21 points and the Rockets hit five of nine free throws as Craig County pulled away in the fourth quarter for a Pioneer District win.
Bonnie Boardwine added 11 points for the Rockets. April Rexroade nailed a pair of 3-pointers for Highland (1-4, 1-4). \

Keenya Hairston scored 20 points to lead the Bulldogs (4-2, 4-1) past the Cougars in the Piedmont District.
Erica Brandon had 17 points and Beth Kirby added 12 for Martinsville, which led by 24 before going to its bench in the final period.
Amy Nelson led Patrick County with a game-high 24 points. \

COVINGTON - Covington's pressure defense finally caught up with the Fighting Blues in the fourth quarter and the hosts edged Parry McCluer to capture a Pioneer District victory and their first win of the season.
Covington (1-4, 1-0) was led by Bessie Laws with 10 points. Misty Snider scored 12 of her 14 in the first half for the Blues (2-3, 0-1). \

LEXINGTON - Jennifer Vest and Jessica Austin scored 11 points each to lead the Wildcats to a non-district victory over the Knights.
Rockbridge County trailed 21-17 at halftime, but took control by outscoring the Knights 16-6 in the third quarter.
Teresa Hickman led James River with 14 points. Angie Johnson added 10.

CASTLEWOOD - Shannon Casteel scored 31 points and Nikki White had 15 points and 21 rebounds to lead Castlewood over the Maroons in a Hogoheegee District game.

SALTVILLE - Tanya Tarter scored 24 points to lead Rural Retreat to a Hogoheegee District victory and sole possession of first place.

MONETA - Hope Cook scored 43 points for the Generals, but the Golden Eagles sank several key foul shots in the last minute to soar to victory.
Courtney Hurd pulled down 18 rebounds and Kim English added 14 as Staunton River (5-0, 5-0) took an 11-point halftime lead. Cook, who had scored 11 points in the first half, kept her team alive in the second, but Tanya Nelms hit one foul shot and Deena Mitchell sank two in the last minute to seal the victory for the Golden Eagles.
Four double-digit scorers gave Staunton River a balanced attack. Hurd led the team with 18 points, followed by Nelms with 17, English with 14 and Mitchell with 10.
Tiwale Pannell added 11 points for William Campbell (5-2, 5-2). \
