Joann Helton led Covington (2-4 overall, 2-0 in the district) with 17 points. The Cougars' defense held Bath County's Ricketta Ricketts to four points by using a double-team.

BLAND - The Shawnees stormed to a 31-7 halftime lead and kept host Bland winless in a Mountain Empire District game. Kellay Ryan and Julie Scheick both scored 14 points for Shawsville (4-2, 4-2). Rachel French had a triple double for Bland (0-6, 0-6), scoring 10 points, blocking 10 shots, and grabbing 11 rebounds.

Martinsville raced to a 27-13 first-quarter lead en route to a Piedmont District victory.
Samantha Ferguson added 18 points for the Bulldogs (5-2 overall, 5-1 Piedmont District). Martinsville led 58-36 after three quarters.
Tunstall got 17 points from Kim Rich.

BUENA VISTA - Teresa Hickman led all scorers with 18 points as the Knights won a Pioneer District game. Kara Mundy added 17 points and Camille Arbogast had 10 for James River (2-5), which took control by holding the Blues to two points in the third quarter. Parry McCluer (3-4) got 16 points from Stephanie Rhodes, 13 from Misty Snider and 10 from Crystal Humphries. \
