OBIT BOONE, WALTER L.
BOONE, Walter L., 85, of Salem, passed away September 23, 1993. He was a
member of Central United Methodist Church in Salem. Mr. Boone served as a
foreman for the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and was retired on
disability from the Veterans Administration. He also was an early pioneer
"Blue Grass" recording artist for RCA Victor records as a member of the "The
Floyd County Ramblers". Survivors include his wife, Virginia Dare Boone of
Salem; two daughters, Nancy Vest Evans, Tucson, Ariz.; and Patricia (Patty)
Fay Brightwell of Overland Park, Kan.; four sisters, Hazel Connor, Copper
Hill; Frances Lucas, Rocky Mount; Virginia Metzler, Salem; and Amelia (Peg)
Ragland, Newport News; a brother, Clarence Boone, Hammett, Idaho; five
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held
Monday, September 27, 1993, in Sherwood Burial Park with the Rev. Howell
Franklin and Rev. Layne Board officiating. The family requests that in lieu of
flowers memorial contributions be made to the American Bible Society. Friends
may call at Lotz in Salem on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.; and
Sunday from 12 to 2 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
