GEORGE WYTHE RUNNER WINS MEET

Jason Alexander of George Wythe ran the course at Fort Chiswell in 17 minutes, 19 seconds on Wednesday to win a Mountain Empire District cross country meet. Giles finished first in the team competition with 45 points, followed by George Wythe (56), Galax (62), Floyd County (99), Fort Chiswell (102) and Shawsville (159).

In the girls' competition, Akemi Eisenhardt of Fort Chiswell placed first with a time of 23:45. Giles won the team competition with 19 points and Shawsville was second with 40.
