WHO, WHEN & WHERE

Thomas Inge, a writer on popular culture, will speak at the Art Museum of Western Virginia on Thursday Sept. 30 at 7 p.m.

His lecture is titled ``From Mouse to Maus: Comics as Culture.''

The free lecture will be in the museum lecture hall in downtown Roanoke.

\ Acting seminar

A film and television acting seminar will be offered by Florida casting agent Beverly McDermott at the Salem Civic Center on Oct. 1.

McDermott's casting credits include more than 100 films and TV shows, such as ``Scarface,'' ``Miami Vice,'' ``Black Sunday,'' ``Goldfinger,'' ``Absence of Malice,'' ``Airport '77,'' and ``Simon and Simon.''
