Money raised will go into the church's building fund.

A community gospel songfest will be held today, 3-8 p.m., at the Willis Station of the Floyd County Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. The station is just off U.S. 221 in Willis on Virginia 768.

This open-air event will feature a variety of gospel music and puppeteers. Refreshments will be on sale. Proceeds will benefit the local volunteer fire squad.

The Giles County LORD'S ACRE SALE is set for Oct. 9, 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at Giles High School in Pearisburg. Sponsored by a fellowship of many Giles County congregations, the sale annually helps support building and maintenance for 17 churches.

Booths will include baked goods, plate lunches, home-canned items and crafts. There will be gospel music throughout the day.

The annual CROP WALK in Radford will take place Oct. 17, sponsored by the Radford-Fairlawn Ministerial Association. Volunteer walkers get pledges throughout the community to raise money to help alleviate world hunger through Church World Service programs.

Twenty-five percent of the amount raised during Radford's 6.2-mile trek will be divided among the Women's Resource Center, Radford-Fairlawn Daily Bread and the Radford Food Pantry.
