RU STUDENT WINS TOP PRIZE IN ART SHOW

Yumiko Ichikawa, a Radford University art student, won first place in Blacksburg's sidewalk art show "Art Along the Fence" Saturday.

Ichikawa, a watercolor specialist, won $300.

Patricia Parola won second place and $200 for her black and white photographs, while Blacksburg artist Carol Hoge captured the $100 third-place prize for her watercolor paintings.

Honorable mention winners included: William Cox, Binyi Liu and Marie Livermore.

Dorothy Egger, organizer of the event, said 26 artists participated in the show.
