2ND WOMAN MAKE DEBUT IN PRO HOCKEY

In Glens Falls, N.Y., Erin Whitten, the second woman to play in a professional hockey game, stopped 10 of 12 shots for the Adirondack Red Wings in an American Hockey League exhibition game.

Both of the goals Whitten allowed came in the second period of the Red Wings' 6-4 loss to the Cornwall Aces. Most of her saves were ordinary, but one was outstanding.

Whitten is a four-time collegiate all-star for the University of New Hampshire women's hockey team. The highlight of her performance was a glove save she made against the Aces' Niclas Andersson. Moving right to left in the crease, Whitten snatched a close-range wrist shot from Andersson, who scored 32 goals for Halifax last season.

Whitten, a Glens Falls native who played high school boys hockey, made her appearance in hopes of attracting an offer from a team in the East Coast Hockey League, one level below the American Hockey League.
