OBIT ROPER, THELMA LEE ROWLAND

ROPER, Thelma Lee Rowland, 58, of Blacksburg, died Friday, September 24, 1993 at Montgomery Regional Hospital. She was a native of Ft. Worth, Texas and was preceded by her father, Carl L. Rowland of Arnett, Okla. Surviving are her husband, L. David Roper; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tamra Dawn Roper and Barry Steven Oliver, Blacksburg, Truda Gaye Roper and Jailson Araujo da Silva, Concord; three granddaughters, Eva Marie Oliver, Tassia Araujo-Roper, Caio Araujo-Roper; her mother, Alice Lee Clark Bowles, Arnett, Okla.; two sisters, Wanda Lou Rowland Ort, Ft. Worth, Texas, Donna Lois Rowland Drake, Edmond, Okla. The family will receive friends Sunday, September 26 from 4 to 6 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 28, at 7 p.m. at Va. Tech War Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Alfred C. Payne will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alice Estes Martin (Physics Teachers) Scholarship Fund, 123 Robeson, Blacksburg, Va. 24061-04352.
