Jeffrey Wayne Pultz, 22, of Roanoke died Friday night at Memorial Hospital.
Laura Nazrini said Saturday she shot an intruder with a shotgun after he broke open a steel door, pushed aside a video-game machine and entered the store in the 700 block of Patterson Avenue.
Roanoke police Sgt. E.M. Legg said Sunday night the case remains under investigation and will be referred to Commonwealth's Attorney Donald Caldwell before a decision on any charges is made.
Caldwell could not be reached for comment Sunday night.
Reading from a prepared release, Legg said, "Although the media has interviewed the woman, who has stated she shot the man, police authorities have made no release of her identity to this date."
Nazrini told a reporter she had closed the business and retired to the store's living quarters with her husband, Bobby, and their daughter, Ginny, when the family was startled by banging noises.
Nazrini said she grabbed the shotgun, and she and her husband then saw the burglar stripping clothes from the racks in the store.
According to Bobby Nazrini, the intruder threatened to kill him.
Laura Nazrini said Pultz came after the couple, and she fired the gun.
