2 SENATE RESTAURANT WORKERS WIN APOLOGY

Two female employees of the Senate restaurant have won monetary damages, job protections and a formal apology in the first case resolved under the Senate's new system for handling sexual harassment and other job discrimination complaints, according to the women's lawyer.

Susan Ochoa, a chef, and Ella Bennett, a kitchen worker, filed complaints that they had been subjected to "repeated and continuous acts of sexual harassment by one of their superiors" over the past three to four years, said their attorney, Sharon Cummings. Senate officials declined comment, noting that they are barred by law and the terms of the settlement from discussing details of the case.
