OBIT FRANCIS, IRENE BANE
FRANCIS, Irene Bane, 74, of White Gate, died Sunday, September 26, 1993, in
Giles Memorial Hospital. She was born at White Gate on August 31, 1919, the
daughter of the late T. B. Francis and Sallie Bane Francis. She was employed
by DuPont in Richmond, was a social worker for the Children's Home Society of
Roanoke and a farmer. She was a member of the United Daughters of the
Confederacy, McComas Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, Count
Pulaski Chapter and was active in the Pearisburg Presbyterian Church. She is
survived by two sisters, Sara McDonald Francis of Radford and Louise Francis
of White Gate; a nephew and his wife, Robert and Betty Francis of White Gate;
a niece and her husband, Maryanne and James Davidson of Rocky Gap; three
great-nephews, Joe Davidson of Charlotte, N.C., Seth Davidson of Columbia,
S.C. and Grady and his wife, Becky Davidson of Elizabethton, Tenn. Funeral
services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel
with the Rev. Alan Harvey and the Rev. Shirley Rogers officiating. Burial will
be in the Walkers Creek Presbyterian Cemetery, White Gate. Visiting will be
anytime after 4:30 p.m. Monday at the Funeral Home with the family receiving
friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Highland
Presbyterian Home for Children, Wytheville, or the Pearisburg Presbyterian
Church.
