IN SERVICE

Air Force Lt. Col. HAROLD R. DOBBINS, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rice Dobbins of Blacksburg, retired from military service Sept. 1.

Dobbins holds a bachelor of science degree from Howard University. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant through the ROTC program on Feb. 3, 1967.

His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf cluster, the Air Force Commendation Medal and the Air Force Achievement Medal.

Dobbins is married to the former Geraldine Phillips of Washington, D.C. They have two children, Dionne and Raja.

Those recently returned from deployment include:

Navy Airman MICHAEL H. NEVERGOLD, son of Michael W. Nevergold of Pearisburg, returned from a six-month Mediterranean Sea and Red Sea deployment with Strike Fighter Squadron 15 from Naval Air Station Cecil Field, Jacksonville, Fla., as part of the battle group of the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt.

Navy Constructionman Apprentice DEWAYNE A. PARRIS, a 1992 graduate of Pulaski County High School, returned from a seven-month Indian Ocean and Mediterranean Sea deployment with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion One from Gulfport, Miss.

Those who recently completed basic training include:

Navy Seaman Recruit DUCHESNE WRENN, daughter of George A. and Erma Reed of Christiansburg, completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, Orlando, Fla.
