The Conference Board, a private business research organization based in New York, said Wednesday its monthly help-wanted index rose to 104 points from 100 in July and 93 in August 1992.
The board said 78 percent of the 51 major U.S. newspapers in the survey said their labor advertising was growing in August.
In the South Atlantic region, including Virginia, the index was 113 points in August, up from 107 in July and 88 in August 1992. - Staff report
