LATE SURGE PROVES KEY TO NARROWS WIN

Sarah Kellum hit a field goal with 4 seconds left to seal the victory as Narrows defeated Oakvale (W.Va.) 45-41 in a non-district girls' basketball game Wednesday night.

The Owls (2-3) led 31-27 after three quarters and had an early fourth-period lead before the Green Wave rallied to score the last six points. Narrows outscored Oakvale 18-10 in the fourth quarter.

Melinda Fleeman scored 12 of her 14 points in the second half to spark the Green Wave (3-5).

Amy Hill had 12 and Heather Cliburne added 10 for the Owls. \

Covington 23

COVINGTON - Jenny Gates scored 17 of her 21 points in the second half as the Cavaliers rolled past the Cougars to a non-district victory.

Lord Botetourt (6-1) held a 20-6 lead at halftime and coasted the rest of the way.

No player scored in double digits for Covington (2-5). \
