ROCKY MOUNT WOMAN DIES IN TRUCK ACCIDENT

An 81-year-old Rocky Mount woman was killed in a Franklin County traffic accident about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to state police.

Irene Esther Thomas failed to stop before entering Virginia 919 from Virginia 697, the report said. Her small pickup truck was struck in the side by a full-size pickup.

Thomas was not wearing a seat belt, state police said.
