RADFORD HIGH HAS NEW ASSISTANT

It's homecoming time for Ken Alderman, Radford High School's new assistant principal.

Alderman, 39, is a Radford native and Radford High graduate who quarterbacked the Bobcats to consecutive state football championships in the early 1970s.

Currently an assistant principal at Rustburg Middle School in Campbell County, Alderman will begin work this academic year in Radford as soon as he can make the change, said Radford School Superintendent Michael Wright.

Alderman's appointment was approved by the Radford School Board Tuesday.

He replaces Peter Wonson, who resigned as assistant principal earlier this month for a school administrative position closer to his Roanoke home.

``He's a very capable person,'' Wright said of Alderman.
