GILES UPENDS GRAYSON COUNTY

Heather Wilburn scored 20 points as Giles rallied in the second half for a 53-37 Mountain Empire District victory over Grayson County on Thursday night.

Giles (2-7, 2-6) also got 11 points from Gina Claytor.

Grayson County (1-8, 1-7) was led by Catie Satterwhite with nine points.

\ Martinsville 70, Gretna 48: In Gretna, Samantha Ferguson and Keenya Hairston scored 18 points each, and the Bulldogs rolled past the Hawks in a Piedmont District game.

Martinsville (7-3, 7-1) stormed to a 43-26 halftime lead, and Gretna never recovered. \

Chatham 44, Fieldale-Collinsville 35: In Chatham, Fieldale-Collinsville held Chatham to one point in the second quarter and went on to win the Piedmont District game.

Jion Word scored 15 points for Fieldale-Collinsville. Chatham's Cicely Becker led all scorers with 19 points. \

Highland 38, Bath County 32: In Hot Springs, the Rams had a big fourth quarter, and it paid off in a close victory over the Chargers in the Pioneer District.

Amy Arbaugh scored 15 points for Highland. \

PH-Glade Spring 51, George Wythe 39: In Glade Spring, Brooke Duncan scored 25 points as the Rebels whipped the Maroons in a Hogoheegee District game.

PH-Glade Spring (4-4, 3-3) used a 15-8 fourth period to secure the victory.

George Wythe's record fell to 1-8, 0-6 despite 19 points from Stacy Green, playing her second game since suffering a serious ankle sprain in preseason practice. \

Liberty 52, Amherst County 45: In Bedford, the Minettes' press caused several turnovers by the Lancers midway through the fourth quarter as Liberty won a Seminole District game.

Felicia Miller scored 11 points and Kellea Whorley added 10 for Liberty (6-3, 6-3). Amherst County's record fell to 4-5, 4-5. \

Rural Retreat 53, Chilhowie 48: In Chilhowie, Tanya Tarter scored 27 points as the Indians edged the Warriors in a Hogoheegee District game.

Rural Retreat raced to a 14-7 lead in the first quarter and held on for the victory. \
