H.D. MCREYNOLDS, EX-CAR DEALER, BANKER, DIES

Harry Dodge McReynolds, a retired Roanoke businessman, died Friday at Lewis-Gale Hospital at the age of 84.

McReynolds was the former owner and president of Johnson-McReynolds Chevrolet Corp., and he established Toyota of Roanoke Valley.

A director of the former Mountain Trust Bank, he had headed Commonwealth Discount and Valley Finance.

Commonwealth Discount owned the former Roanoke Industrial Loan and Thrift and other thrifts in Virginia.

He was a leader in the "Roanoke Tomorrow" program of the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce in 1956. And he headed the industrial campaigns for Roanoke Memorial and Burrell Memorial hospitals.

McReynolds had been a member of the Roanoke Rotary Club.

Surviving is his wife, Elizabeth Hancock McReynolds.

The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the crypt in Evergreen Burial Park.

Oakey's Roanoke Chapel is handling arrangements.

The family requests that memorials be made to St. John's Episcopal Church Memorial Fund or to a favorite charity.
