OBIT HARE, JAMES ANDREW II
HARE, James Andrew II, 78, of Vinton, passed away Saturday, October 2,
1993, at his home. He was a son of the late James A. Hare Sr. and Mary Beamer
Hare, formerly of Narrows. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Helen
Cartwright Hare; a son and daughter-in-law, James A. Hare III and Sandra
Hancock Hare; one grandson, Jordan Hare, all of Smithfield; a daughter, Mary
Anne Carter of Blue Ridge; a sister, Reba Wheeler of Narrows; several nieces
and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Carol Hare. He was
an employee of the Virginian Railway at Narrows and later, the Norfolk and
Western East End Shops at Roanoke. He was also an Army Veteran of World War
II. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, October 4,
1993, in Fairview Cemetery, Narrows with the Rev. William E. Hungate
officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be
made to Good Samaritan Hospice, Inc., 4325 Colonial Ave. SW, Roanoke, VA
24018. Friends may call at Oakey's Vinton Chapel where the family will receive
friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
