OBIT CARTER, JOHN BILLY JR.

CARTER, John Billy Jr., ("J. R."), 49, of Bedford, died Saturday, October 2, 1993 at his residence. He was born in Bedford County on November 22, 1943, a son of John Billy Carter Sr. and Lois Dooley Carter. He was a veteran serving during the Vietnam War and was employed by the National Park Service. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Ann Carter; two daughters, Lucinda Carter Smith and son-in-law, William P. Smith, Bedford, Michelle Carter Jenkins and son-in-law, Billy R. Jenkins, Bedford; one son, Andrew Jake Carter, Bedford; one granddaughter, Lori Danielle Jenkins, Bedford; maternal grandmother, Pearl Wilson Dooley, Bedford. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 5, 1993 at the New Prospect Church with the Rev. Jeffrey W. Clemens officiating. Burial will follow in the Peaksview Christian Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sarah White for her medical expenses, C/O Northside Supply, Route 43 North, Bedford. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford.
