`AWESOME JOB' AT FORD

Never one to mince words, Alexander Trotman says he will face "a few hundred problems" when he takes over as chairman of Ford Motor Co.

"But that's what they pay me for," said the British-born car buff who has spent 38 years with the No. 2 automaker.

On Nov. 1, he succeeds retiring Chairman Harold Poling, taking the helm as Ford recovers from depressed sales in North American and Europe.

Trotman said his challenges include expanding sales into Asia and the Pacific, improving sales in North America and Europe, and making British luxury car maker Jaguar profitable.

"I'll be taking on an awesome job," he said.

Trotman also will be Ford's chief executive and president, the first time all three titles have been held by one person. - Associated Press
