OBIT PORTERFIELD, EDITH ROBERTSON

PORTERFIELD, Edith Robertson, 83, of Roanoke, died Monday, October 4, 1993. She was the widow of Carl K. Porterfield, and was a member of Windsor Hills Baptist Church. She had previously been a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. Mrs. Porterfield was a retired seamstress in the Roanoke Valley and was a member of the Seniors Club of Farrington Apartments. Surviving is a son and daughter-in-law, Jackie Carl and Martha H. Porterfield; a grandson, James C. Porterfield and wife, Ellen S. Porterfield; a granddaughter, Sheri P. Mullins and husband, Brad E. Mullins; a great-grandson, Hunter E. Mullins; a great-granddaughter, Davis Clay Mullins; a brother and sister-in-law, A. James and Virginia H. Robertson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth R. and Paul W. Leonard, Louise R. Porterfield, Joyce R. and James Fletcher, all of Roanoke; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at Oakey's South Chapel 1 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. C. Lawrence Dodson, the Rev. Ron Sutherland, and Brad E. Mullins will officiate. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Windsor Hills Baptist Church Building Fund. The family will receive friends at Oakey's South Chapel from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
