OBIT TAYLOR, ELWOOD SHELTON

TAYLOR, Elwood Shelton, 72, of 911 Highland St., Martinsville, died Tuesday, October 5, 1993, at Martinsville Convalescent Center. He was born May 30, 1921, in Eden, N.C., son of the late N. S. and Ida Varner Taylor. Mr. Taylor was a retired employee of the Lions Club International-State Secretary, was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and a graduate of Spencer Penn High School. He is survived by his sisters, Mrs. Adeline Tavenner of Ridgeway, Betty Louise White of California; brothers, William A. (Archie) Taylor of Martinsville, H. Carson Taylor of Lexington; 10 nieces and nephews; 13 great nieces and nephews; 2 great-great-nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at McKee Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Glenn Voss officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, 7 to 9 p.m., at the McKee Funeral Home, other times at home of his sister, Adeline Tavenner, Rt. 3, Ridgeway, Va. Interment will be in Horsepasture Christian Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Building Fund.
