GOLF TOURNEY PROCEEDS TO GO TO CHRISTMAS STORE

A golf tournament to help raise funds for the Community Christmas Store in Salem and Roanoke County will be held Saturday at at 1 p.m. at Hanging Rock Golf Course on Red Lane in Salem.

The entry fee is $50 per player or $200 per team. The rain date is Sunday.

Prizes, including a Saturn automobile for the player who scores a hole-in-one on hole number 3, will be awarded.

The Community Christmas Store will use the proceeds to help make Christmas festive for low-income families in Salem and Roanoke County.

Teresa Thomas, an organizers, said merchandise will be assembled in one location where eligible families can shop for Christmas. To buy, those who have been screened by social service agencies, will use points assigned to them on the basis of their need.

Thomas said the site of the store has not yet been determined.
