OBIT DOSS, JULIAN B. DR.
DOSS, Julian B. Dr., 89, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, October 6, 1993, in
Lewis-Gale Hospital. Dr. Doss attended the University of Virginia where he was
a graduate of University of Virginia Medical School in 1934. He was retired as
chief of the Psychiatry Department of VA Hospital in Salem with 33 years of
service. He was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church; the Roanoke
Academy of Medicine; and the American Medical Association. He served as a
captain in the Army Medical Corp during World War II with the 165th Station
Hospital and was awarded a Bronze Star. He is survived by his wife, Marie F.
Doss, Roanoke; son, Julian B. Doss, Jr., Roanoke; one brother, Jeter M. Doss,
Roanoke; several nieces and nephews; including a special niece, Barbara D.
Walker, Salem. Funeral services will be held at the Second Presbyterian Church
10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 9, 1993, with Dr. William R. Klein, Dr. A. Taylor
Todd and Dr. James A. Allison Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in
Evergreen Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7
to 9 p.m. Friday at Oakey's South Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family
suggests memorials be made to the University of Virginia Medical School
Foundation or Second Presbyterian Church.
