OBIT FOWLKES, H. B.
FOWLKES, H. B., 64, of 116 Howeland Circle in Danville, died in Durham,
N.C., Tuesday evening, October 5, 1993. He had been receiving medical
treatment at Duke University Medical Center in Durham for the last year. Mr.
Fowlkes was born and raised in Danville and educated at Averette College. He
served in the U.S. Air Force. Prior to his illness, he was the General Manager
of American Tire Distributors in Roanoke. He was a member of First Baptist
Church in Durham, N.C. Mr. Fowlkes is survived by his wife, Julie Pleasant
Fowlkes; a son, Tony Fowlkes, Danville; two daughters, Vanessa Fowlkes and
Valerie Fowlkes, both of Richmond; his mother, Sadie B. Fowlkes, Durham, N.C.;
three grandchildren. The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist
Church in Durham, N.C. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery. Memorial
contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Mission Trip Fund c/o
First Baptist Church, 414 Cleveland St., Durham, N.C. 27701.
