OBIT SOUTHERS, CARL ODELL SR.

SOUTHERS, Carl Odell Sr., 78, of the 5300 Block of Academy Road, Virginia Beach, a retired plasterer, died Tuesday, October 5, 1993, in a Norfolk hospital. Mr. Southers was born in Riverside, and was a World War II veteran. After an illness in 1981, he helped his son create COS Electronics when he retired from Mustin brothers and Woods Plastering. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lena Mills Southers; a son, Carl O. Southers Jr., Newport News; a sister, Macy Southers Floyd, Buena Vista. A service will be conducted 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home Bayside Chapel by the Rev. Doris Dameron. The body will be available for viewing at 6:30 p.m. A memorial service near his home town will be conducted Friday, October 8, 1993, 2 p.m., at Grace Baptist Church in Glasgow, by the Rev. Walter Thompson. Funeral and burial will be at Christ Santified Holy Church in Perry, Ga. officiated by Rev. Ben Jernigan.
