MCLAUGHLIN TIES MARK IN ROANOKE WIN

Robin McLaughlin scored three times, tying Roanoke College's career record for goals, as the Maroons blanked Hollins 8-0 on Thursday in Old Dominion Athletic Conference women's soccer.

McLaughlin, a senior, has 37 career goals for Roanoke (7-4 overall, 6-1 in the ODAC). It was the seventh consecutive victory for the Maroons, tying another school record.

Hollins is 2-8, 0-5.

In other college sports:

In Lexington, Anne Spruill, Angie Carrington and Michelle Bauman scored the goals as Washington and Lee (6-3, 4-0) whipped Sweet Briar 3-0 in an ODAC women's soccer game. Sweet Briar is 2-8 and 0-7.

In Radford, Kokeda Sheppard scored the only goal as Radford upset 20th-ranked Virginia Commonwealth 1-0 in field hockey. It was the first victory over a ranked opponent for the Highlanders (3-7-1).
