ENTRIES PILING UP FOR NRVS EVENT

Entries for the richest Late Model Stock Car race in New River Valley Speedway history are expected to set a record for the Radford track.

NASCAR has mailed entry forms for the Oct. 23 event to all Late Model Stock drivers in the Winston Racing Series' Mid-Atlantic Region. The forms have been pouring in, track promoter Ronnie Snoddy says. The final list could exceed 100.

The 250-lap feature is part of the Southwest Virginia Chevy Dealers 300, which will pay $6,500 to the winner from a purse of more than $30,000. A 50-lap Limited Sportsman race also is on the card.

Late Model Stock qualifying starts at 1:30 p.m. The first of two 25-lap races to determine the final spots in the starting field will begin at 3 p.m.

Gates open at 9 a.m. for the final event of the season. Practice begins at 11 a.m., with prerace ceremonies at 2:30 p.m..

Admission is $10 for adults, and free for children 12 and younger.

In Harrisonburg, Brad Yoder scored two goals as host Eastern Mennonite beat Roanoke Valley Christian in Virginia Independent Conference boys' soccer. The Flames are 8-0 overall and 6-0 in the VIC. The Eagles are 5-1-1 and 4-1.
