RED CROSS NOTES FALSE SOLICITATION

The Montgomery County Chapter of the American Red Cross is alerting residents that a fictitious phone solicitation is apparently being held in its name.

Debbie Ingram, executive secretary of the local chapter, said she recently received a complaint that a man had called a woman soliciting donations in the name of the Red Cross.

"Our chapter does not do phone solicitations. Anything coming from us would come by letter," Ingram said.

"It's hard enough to raise money without someone doing this."
