OBIT MONK, WILLIAM E. SR. ("BILL")

MONK, William E. Sr. ("Bill"), 83, of Roanoke, died Friday, October 8, 1993, in a local hospital. He was a Marine veteran of World War II, a retired insurance salesman and a member of the B.P.O.E. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Ambrose Monk. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, W. E. Monk Jr. and Shelly Monk, Roanoke; daughter, Sheridan (Sharon) Barnett, Roanoke; six grandchildren, two half great-grandchildren. Graveside funeral services with military rites will be held in Sherwood Memorial Park at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. H. D. Scoggins officiating. Friends may call after 6 p.m. on Saturday or 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Oakey's South Chapel.
