Yokohama Tire Corp., the U.S. subsidiary of Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd., has announced that YOSHIMICHI HANABUSA, has been promoted to managing director in charge of corporate planning at the parent company, Yokohama Rubber, in Japan. He was formerly president and chief executive officer of the Fullerton, Calif.-based company. Hanabusa came to the United States in October 1989 as president of Mohawk Rubber Co. of Salem. In 1992 Yokohama Tire and Mohawk Rubber Co. were consolidated, and Hanabusa was named president and chief executive officer.
ACCOUNTING
KPMG Peat Marwick has promoted C. NOVEL MARTIN to manager. He will provide audit services to health-care, manufacturing and governmental clients. He is a certified public accountant, certified management accountant and a member of the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Management Accounting.
HENRY FAISON, real estate developer and president of Faison Associates of Charlotte, N.C., has been named chairman of the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond for 1994. He has been a director since 1990 and deputy chairman since 1991. Faison's projects in Roanoke include Valley View Mall, Dominion Tower, Hunting Hills Shopping Center and Hotel Roanoke.

\ LINDA WHITE has joined the Roanoke office of Scott Insurance. She has been in the insurance business since 1978, previously with Davis & Stephenson and Chaney, Thomas, Stevenson & Hill. She is a graduate of Hollins College, has earned the designation as a certified professional insurance woman and is pursuing the chartered property and casualty underwriter designation. Scott Insurance has five regional offices and serves clients throughout Virginia and North Carolina.
\ KARL VANDEGRIFF, vice president of Community Hospital of Roanoke Valley, and LARRY DePRIEST, president of Danville Regional Medical Center, have been elected board members of the Virginia Insurance Reciprocal, a regional specialty insurance company providing professional liability insurance to hospitals, physicians and lawyers in the southeastern United States.
MANUFACTURING
\ RODNEY D. SUTTON has been appointed director of international technical sales at Connex Pipe Systems Inc. He also will be Midwest regional sales manager of the company. Sutton has more than 25 years experience in the bending, fabricating and manufacturing industry. A. PAUL STEWART has been named southeast regional sales manager. He has more than 20 years experience in the fabrication industry. Both Sutton and Stewart will be based at Connex's new headquarters in Troutville. The company is moving from Marietta, Ohio.
The Virginia Manufacturers Association has elected new members to the board of directors for two-year terms beginning Jan. 1, 1994. They include THOMAS BROCK, general manager of General Electric Co. in Salem; ELINOR ESSIG, vice president of Ronile Inc. in Rocky Mount; FRANK FARMER, president and chief executive officer of Roanoke Gas Co.; DALE MERRIS, plant manager of E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co., in Martinsville; and GLENN THORNHILL, president of Maid Bess Corp. in Salem. \ ROGER BLEVINS, traffic manager of Pulaski Furniture Corp., has been elected chairman of the board of directors of the American Furniture Manufacturers Association. Also, DOUG SMITH, traffic manager of Singer Furniture Co. of Roanoke, has been elected to the board.
MEDICINE
\ DR. TOD A. STILLSON, a resident physician at Roanoke Memorial Hospitals' Southeast Roanoke Family Medical Center, is among 50 physicians from throughout the nation to be recognized by the American Medical Association through their Leadership Recognition Program.
Stillson has provided medical care in Jamaica and Guyana on medical mission trips through his church, works with the Crises Pregnancy Center in Roanoke, and chairs the Family Life Conference, a ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ. He completed four years of pharmacy school at Butler University in Indianapolis and received his M.D. degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1991. There he was tapped by the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society and won the Family Medicine Departmental Award.
NONPROFITS
\ LINDA WEBB has been appointed director of development for Mill Mountain Theatre succeeding Judy Graham, who has returned to college. Webb graduated from Cornell University in 1983, sold advertising for Time Inc. and Whittle Communications, and most recently was vice president of marketing and advertising for Virginia Southwest magazine. She will be responsible for writing grants and securing individual, corporate and foundation contributions.
The River Foundation, which administers the Explore Park project in Roanoke and Bedford Counties, has elected NORMAN FINTEL president and chairman of the board. He succeeds JOSEPH STEPHENSON, who resigned in August. Fintel was formerly president of Roanoke College and is a past chairman of the River Foundation board, giving up that post to Stephenson in 1991.
Also the foundation named RUPERT CUTLER director of its Explore Park. He has been the park's education director since 1991. He was formerly assistant secretary of agriculture and head of Defenders of Wildlife, a national conservation group. RICHARD BURROW, who was project engineer for Explore, has been named park engineer.
SCORE, an organization of retired business executives sponsored by the Small Business Administration, has elected the following officers: JOSEPH J. VAETH, chairman; LEONARD D. HATCH, vice chairman; RUTH S. SPRADLIN, treasurer; and ERNEST D. KAUFMAN, secretary.

\ ELIZABETH A.B. FUTRELL has joined Gallery 3 in downtown Roanoke as corporate sales art consultant. She formerly worked as director of telemarketing with Frame One, also of Roanoke.
TRANSPORTATION
\ WILLIAM L. ROBERTSON of Moneta has retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation after 26 years of service. Robertson joined VDOT in 1967 as a skilled laborer and retired as equipment repair supervisor. Robertson has been vice president, treasurer and director-at-large of the Virginia Government Employees Association. He also was president of the local Virginia State Employees Association.
