BRODIE-NICKELL
Melissa Jane Nickell and RobertLewis Brodie were married October 9, 1993,
in Boones Mill Baptist Church. Rev. Deroy Campbell and Rev. Glenn Voss
performed the ceremony. The reception was held in the church fellowship hall.
The maid of honor was Kimberly Nickell, and the matron of honor was Stephanie
Woodzell, both sisters of the bride. Bridesmaids were Teresa Barnett, Pamela
Sweeney, Sonia Hayes, and Teresa Hawks, all friends of the bride. Junior
bridesmaid was Rachel Browning, cousin of the bride. Flowergirls were
Elizabeth Browning, cousin of the bride, and Lindsey Campbell, cousin of the
groom. The best man was John David Brodie, Sr., father of the groom. Ushers
were John David Brodie, Jr., brother of the groom, Mark Grindstaff, Andy
Grindstaff, Dean Grindstaff, cousins of the groom, and Bill Bousman, friend of
the groom. Ringbearer was Levi Woodzell, nephew of the bride. The
candlelighters were Andy Grindstaff and Mark Grindstaff. The guestbook was
attended by Judy Childress. The program attendant was Amy Lazenby. A program
of wedding music was presented by pianist and vocalist, Sharon Guilliams, and
organist, Robyn Wade. Wedding photography was by Greg King of King
Photography. The wedding director was A. Milton Arrington. Escorted by her
father, the bride wore a gown of candlelight bridal satin which featured a
portrait collar and fitted bodice embellished with pearls and iridescents on
alencon lace appliques. The fitted basque waist flows into a full skirt which
extended to a cathedral train accented with beaded medallion cut outs. She
carried an ivory cascading bouquet with cymbidums, roses, freesia, and gerbera
daisies. The bride is a daughter of Benny and Frances Nickell, of Rocky Mount,
Va. She graduated from Franklin County High School, attended Virginia Western
Community College, and is employed by Allstate Insurance Company in Roanoke,
Va. The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. John David Brodie, Sr., of
Martinsville, Va. He graduated from Franklin County High School, Virginia
Western Community College, and is employed by Thompson Builders in Penhook,
Va. After a honeymoon cruise to the Bahamas, the newlyweds will live in
Martinsville, Va.
