ROANOKE TEAM OUSTED FROM NATIONALS

The Roanoke Hot Shots reached the championship match in their bracket before losing at the United States Tennis Association 4.0 women's national championship in Palm Springs, Calif. The Hot Shots beat Northwestern, from Minneapolis, 3-2 in the morning before losing 3-2 to Southern California in the afternoon.

Virginia Tech had a disappointing day, winning only three of nine matches in the eight-team Virginia Tech Invitational women's tournament in Blacksburg.
